About our Gallery FramesUpdated 5 months ago
We have two types of canvas frames at Lindsay Letters – Gallery Frames and Premium Frames. Both styles of frames are available on all of our canvases, so you can select which framing option suits your taste, budget, and the artwork best.
Gallery Frames are a type of frame that creates almost a shadow-box-like effect around the artwork, encompassing the canvas fully, but with a small space between the canvas and the frame, which adds dimension and drama. Our beautiful Gallery Frames are a sure-fire way to elevate the look of any piece. With their extra depth, they sit prominently on the wall and prop beautifully on ledges and mantles. They are 0.75" wide, and add an extra 1.5" to the perimeter of your canvas.

Gallery White
The Gallery White frame is tied for the title of our best selling frame. It is white on all sides – both interior and exterior – with a matte finish, and gives art a museum-esque feel. The Gallery White frame is discreet, which really allows the artwork to shine while creating a finished, polished look.
Here is an example of our Gallery White Frame.
Gallery Natural
Our Gallery Natural frame is tied with Gallery White for the title of our best selling frame! Its made of pure wood and totally smooth but with a visible grain. It has no stain, just a matte varnish to protect the wood. It literally goes with everything! But we especially love it for our more pastel or coastal paintings, as it adds the perfect touch of warmth.
Here is an example of our Gallery Natural Frame.
Gallery Black
The Gallery Black frame has a satin-finish black on all sides – both interior and exterior – and makes your artwork pop. (Kind of the same effect mascara or eyeliner have on a face!)
Here is an example of our Gallery Black Frame.
Gallery Walnut
The Gallery Walnut frame is a wood frame with a matte neutral-coffee-toned stain on all sides, with a grainy texture.
Gallery Painted Brass
The Gallery Painted Brass frame is a satin-finish black frame, where the front has been painted with a thin layer of gold metallic paint. The translucent gold over the black creates almost a greenish huge, which looks similar to oxidized brass. It's a subtle metallic, but on the right canvas when it catches the light, it can be really beautiful.
Here is an example of our Gallery Painted Brass Frame.
Kindly note: please take extra care to treat our metallic frames with care, as the finish scratches easily.
Hanging Hardware
Unframed & Gallery Framed Canvases come with sawtooth hangers – either one or two, depending on the size of the artwork. It will be attached to one side of your canvas – either on the short or long side – according to the orientation of the canvas mockup you saw when you were ordering. You'll just need one or two nails and a hammer to hang your canvas.
(Missing our beloved hanging kits? They are a perk of our Premium Canvas Frames, but you can also purchase them on Amazon!)
If you would like to orient your canvas differently than the hanging hardware directs, that's no problem! Here's that Help Desk Article →
p.s. No matter the canvas or framing type, you don't need to hang your canvas in a stud!
